SA Law Corporate Challenge Training Runs
To help our SA Law Corporate Challenge teams to prepare for the big day, we will be putting on some training runs just for you!
These are FREE training sessions and are open to all ages and abilities! They will be led by two Run Leaders, one taking a 5K group and the other taking a Half Marathon group. We hope they will be a great way for our Corporate Teams to get together for some social running in the lead up to the event. Who knows, you might even do some networking too!
The training runs will be held on:
Thurs 6th April –2K & 6.5K routes
Thurs 20th April – 3K & 7.5K routes
Thurs 11th May – 4K & 8.5K routes
Thurs 1st June – 5K & 10K routes
Please note the first distance is for those taking on the 5K and the second distance is for the Half Marathon runners. If your training is ahead of this, we will be happy to buddy you up to do longer runs.
We will be meeting at 5:45pm outside the SA Law St Albans Office: Gladstone Place, 36-38 Upper Marlborough Road, St Albans, AL1 3UU
IMPORTANT: If you would like to attend, please complete the Disclaimer Form and bring it with you to your first session. For insurance reasons, you will not be able to run until you have completed the disclaimer form.
Meet the coaches!
I was given Run St Albans as a project in my role as St Albans Sports Development Officer - and postponed setting it up for as long as I could! I couldn’t run 5k let alone positively promote the idea of a 0-5k programme to the community! Now it’s a different story…the running bug is real! I have been a qualified run leader since November 2015 and have delivered many 0-5k programmes across the district. I have delivered to a group of Moving Mums after the morning school drop off (this group then continued with me to 10k), worked with local running clubs and groups to increase their beginners running offer and have also managed to get a few of the St Albans Council employees running after work each week. I have a few parkruns under my belt and my next aim is the London 10 miles event in June (not bad for someone who hated cross country at school!). I’ll be taking the 5k – 10k sessions and each week will be a guided progression to help you develop your running. I look forward to seeing you on 30th March…don’t forget your trainers!
I have been the Race Director for St Albans Half Marathon since 2015 and have loved being able to grow the event and give back so much to the local community. One of the things which I developed following the 2015 St Albans Half Marathon is Athena – a ladies only running group. This started as a small project to try to encourage ladies in St Albans to get running, as many found the idea of starting out too daunting. We now have a full development programme and one Athena member even taking on the London Marathon! The thing I love most about being a Run Leader is encouraging people to push themselves to their limit and seeing how proud they are of themselves when they progress. I look forward to meeting you at the training runs!
