Starting and finishing in Verulamium Park, the St Albans Half Marathon will take you through the stunning country lanes of St Albans. Although you may come across a hill or two, the view from the top makes it worthwhile. Known as the friendliest Half Marathon in the area, our marshals will cheer you on and entertain you with their fancy dress, and the free ice lolly waiting for you at the finish line is sure to get you through those last few miles!

When registering you will be asked your expected finish time from this we will allocate you to a starting pen.This has been introduced to help prevent collisions and injuries at the start by people going quicker or slower than others. Race results are done by gun time; however your chip-time starts when you pass under the gantry and over the chip mats so don't worry if it takes a while to get through the start. Both your gun and chip time will appear in the results.
If you know your estimated finish time is wrong before the event, you can change it on your registration, this option is available until 7th May 2018. After this time please call the St Albans Half Marathon team who will be able to change your starting pen.
There will be a presentation of prizes to the Top 3 Male and Top 3 Female runners only. Additional prizes for the categories below will be sent to runners following the event.
Race prizes will be confirmed throughout the year as donations are kindly made by sponsors. However cash prizes are confirmed for the following categories:

The St Albans Half Marathon is a charitable event. Proceeds for registration fees, for all events, will go to our supported charities which are chosen by the community. You are welcome to get sponsorship for your event, which can go towards our chosen charity or to a charity of your choice. Simply click on the "Start Fundraising" button on the right to get started!
Late entry fees will apply to the entry price from 14th May 2017 until registrations close on 5th June 2017. The cost of this will be an extra £2 on the entry fee price.
Please Note: We reserve the right to refuse or cancel an application/entry. We may also alter aspects of one or all of our events including routes, starts and finishes and water points.
The wearing of headphones, or similar devices, (other than those medically prescribed), is not permitted in races on any single carriageway roads. Under UKA rules, you are allowed to wear bone-conducting headphones. We will be allowing the use of Bone Conduction headphones ONLY for the running half marathon but the runner must declare this in their registration form before the event or they may still be disqualified.
Any runner seen using any other form of headphone or who has not declared using bone conduction headphones will be disqualified. The Race Director has taken advice and in-line with current UKA rules and BARR recommendations on health and safety grounds when establishing our head phone policy. Please respect our rules, we don't have many.
CANCELLATIONS AND TRANSFERS
You have the right to cancel your place in any one of our events and receive a full refund (excluding admin fee) if your cancellation is notified in writing to the event team within 7 days of your entry date. After this period we regret that we cannot refund any entry fees, whether due to injury, illness, lack of training or a last minute change of plan.
Participants are also able to transfer to a different race or transfer their registration to another participant through the online registration system if they can no longer attend. This option is only available until 15th April 2018. Transfers between categories are free of charge but transfer to a new participant has an additional charge of £2. If a participant is transferring to a race with a cheaper entry fee the price difference is non-refundable. After 15th April transfer is only available by telephone with the events team, this is available until 7th May.
If a participant is unable to attend the event and doesn’t wish to transfer their place, they can contact St Albans Half Marathon via email with their name and date of birth to request a deferral discount code. This code will entitle them to 50% off the equivalent race in 2019’s event registration and will be valid for one use until 31st December 2018.
In the unfortunate circumstance of the event being cancelled through circumstance beyond the control of the race organisers, I understand, and accept, the rules and terms of the entry including that there will be no refund of race entries and purchases.
