| Chip Timing (Half Marathon only) |
You will find in your race pack an individual chip that attaches to your shoelace. The chip must be in place before you make your way to the start line and must be worn at all times during the race. As you cross the start and finish lines the tartan mats will pick up your individual chip and will accurately record your race time. We do recommend that for your personal interest, remember to "clock" your own start and finish time. There will be chip bins at the end of the finish funnel. Please drop your chip into one of them as you finish the race. Raceahead is the official ChampionChip timer of the event. For more information visit www.raceahead.com. |
| Start Zones | Please note timed zones have been introduced within the start funnel. The zones have been split according to approx race finish times. Please can you position yourself at the start within a time zone close to your expected race time. The zones have been added for safety reasons. |

| Advice to New Participants |
Discuss any medical problems with your General Practitioner.
Always warm up before your exercise as this may prevent injury. Do not run if you feel unwell or if you are recovering from an illness. If you suffer from any medical condition, which may lead to an emergency, such as diabetes, epilepsy, high blood pressure, asthma, etc, please put a cross on the front of your number. On the reverse of the number you will find a medical details section, please complete this to help our officials support you in the event of an emergency. Appropriate clothing should be worn for the weather conditions as well as comfortable footwear. Start the race well hydrated. Regular drinking throughout the race will help you feel better later on and may also prevent cramps. It is not advisable to drink alcohol either before or during the race, as this will dehydrate your body further. (Water points are located at the start, near miles 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 & 13 and at the finish). At the finish, do not stand about allowing yourself to get cold. Go straight to the baggage area and change into warm, dry clothing. Please note that foil blankets do not stop you from becoming cold. If you feel unwell, make for an Aid Station. If you are unable to reach an aid Station, inform one of the course marshals of your difficulty and they will assist you. (Mobile Emergency First Aid points are located on route). The first aid team will respond to calls anywhere on the route. Runners will be disqualified if accompanied by cyclists, dogs or pushchairs. If at any stage during the race, you find yourself alone, please wait for a couple of minutes and retrace your steps if no one joins you.
